Had to get some quality welding done and a mate took me around to see his mate. He was very helpful and a real nice bloke, but what he had in his shed !!!! I took some pics and thought someone may enjoy.

It has a blown 454 chev motor and some sort of auto/manual gearbox.
Runs on methanol and can empty a 160 litre tank very quickly.
Burn out comps are becoming more and more popular here in Australia with some good prize money.
He gave it a run with some mufflers stuck on otherwise the neighbors would complain, it was deafening but incredible.

He said you just put it in 3rd and floor it !! It only takes a few minutes to do this to good tyres

The engine looks about the same size as an F :bust:

Completely bonkers and must be incredibly expensive as a sport, unless you can get your hands on the prize money I suppose. Crazy stuff - looks great fun though :woohoo:

Like most pastimes... Each to their own I guess. ;)

It looks to be an expensive hobby Dave. Does he get paid for putting on a show? Or must he win some prize money?

Yes some are right it is a very crazy but they enjoy it. I guess its similar to the drag racing. The amount of money for one of those motors would be huge. The amount of work to build such a machine would be massive. That one is a credit to the guy as it is very well done. I think he only gets prize money Leigh

.
If anyone is interested here is a best 10 at a comp. If you went to one of those comps I reckon you may need breathing gear??

As said, everyone finds interest in something, but that doesn't do it for me.

Same as drifting. Huge following and kiddies around the country making their cars better at sliding when I would be spending my money on making it grip better.
