It is hard for me to compare drivers from different eras however admire the generations of the past who had to drive a little more than play with buttons and settings.
From mid eighties when i first followed Formula 1 Senna at Donington in the rain showed me he was prepared to take a car where no one else dared.
He had to overdrive the williams for the few races and documentaries show he suspected schumachers Benneton had a little perk somewhere.Schumacher was a priveleged driver at Ferrari,Irvine and Barrichelo was 2nd fiddle.
Mansell It was rumoured was hard work but i still respect the way he drove he didnt race to be liked he would race to try and win and had plenty of bottle.
Damon Hill appears a likeable gentleman but just wish he had been a bit more ruthless with his complaint when schumacher rammed him away from what should of been his 2nd championship.
Most people think of Newey but digging through archives Colin Chapman at lotus for me is a more inspiring figure.
Ken Tyrrell,That big funny moustach designer, who designed the banned hoover Brabham car then made Mclaren great, cant remember his name,Frank Williams all great,Hunt made Formula 1 look like fun,Ecclestone Lined his pockets with gold then gave his daughters millions to parade on telly and rub our noses in it on how to waste it.
