Hi all
Well it is that time of year when I do my oil change. Looking around my garage I have found 2Lts of 0'40 and 3 Lts of 0/30 both or full synthetic so would you just use these or buy 2Lts of 0/40 and keep the 3 Lts of 0/30 which will probably never get used if I don't use it now

I always buy the correct spec (10W40 Semi Synth), but it is your engine.

Same here - 10/40 was recommended by MGR.

I always use Magnatec personally.

Everything you ever wanted to know about motor oil (plus a few you probably didn't) can be found in this old T-Bar thread, click here to view.

helsbyman, take a look in particular at point 15.

I would only use Castrol Magnatec 10w/40 Semi synthetic as recommended by MGR - I know of a case where oil turned into ''black tar'' from mixing of full and semi synthetic in a high milage K series (MGF) the contents of the sump were so thick that the oil pump would not pick it up!!, sump had to be removed to drain as nothing would come out when drain plug was removed.

Great to see you posting again Bryan, wondered where you had been hiding.

:-? I have never heard of anything like that happening. Are you sure it was engine oil he put in the MGF.

Simply mixing Full and Semi Synthetic oil would not result in it becoming so viscous that nothing would come out if the drain plug were removed. Not unless the temperature were below about -45oC.

There must have been another reason if that occurred.
