Apologies for the quality of the pics in advance. So removed my front bumper today was having a look around, saw this rusted part and when i touched it the whole thing just disintegrated in a shower of rust. The other side was just as bad, Am i right in thinking these are the infamous front sub frame mounts?

Yep.. designed to fail..

You can buy new steel.. or new stainless steel ones..

I went with steel.. and slid 3.4mm CDS tube inside and puddle welded.. to beef them up.. then fitted plastic caps the bung up the ends..

Id also fit all new bolts whilst you at it.. (but that's just me)

The stainless ones worry me a bit. It's a structural part and I was always told that you shouldn't use stainless in components that take shock load etc as it fractures easier.

Mind you, it has to be better than the rusty ones. ;)

Mine were showing signs of a little surface corrosion. :woowoo:

So I bought the MS uprated ones and had them powder coated.

Funny you should say that, because today i decided to do a temporary fix on the front sub frame itself. Eventually I hope to replace with everything with new, but for now out came the wire brush and the hammerite.
