Urgent help required
Can any one tell me of a Good mobile Mechanic ? My son had his MG TF head casket replaced less than 1000 miles ago by a so called MG expert (the garage at the top of Carr Hill Doncaster, If any one knows it) and at 12.15 last night he rings to say is oil is like custard and losing coolant Which we had changed last weekend from the WATER the "Expert" had used.
I am not with out the skills or tools to do the job but due to health problems it may be better for a "proper Mechanic" to do the job, next problem is to get the car from R.A.F Coninsby where my son works to Doncaster if any one knows a place we can hire a car transporter from for a couple of hours for recovery

Russell Walsh of MG Rover Solutions www.mgroversolutions.com a lot on here will confirm that he is the best, will come to you or your sons place of work (saves moving it) Distance is no problem for Russell, even Europe. HE IS THE ONLY ONE I WOULD LET TOUCH MY MGF.

Sorry to hear about your news. I live close to you I'm at Wombwell near Barnsley and know of said 'specialist' Unfortunately as you've found out the hard way these so called specialists are sometimes clowns.
As others have said your best of getting mobile mechanic out. I've used a few, Russell Walsh is a good one who sponsors this forum.
I've also used MG Rover Mechanics who are based in Derby so not that far away from you.
I have not invested interest in any of these mobile mechanics as I've sold my car.
What you want to do is ring the garage and give them hell. Under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. you have a case.

I suspect you will have to either get them to fix it again.
Or get someone else to fix it if they don't play ball and then take them to the small claims court.
I had a similar issue with Halfords. Took it all the way and got a few hundred of them and the cost of the repair free.
Whenever i have a cold beer it makes me feel better as I know that Halfords paid for the fridge.
If you need any help give me a bell, I'm usually busy but local enough to be helpful.

In your first post you mention that you drained the water out and refilled with coolant because the garage neglected to use coolant did you thoroughly bleed the system through all three points as it is crucial to remove all the air from the system otherwise the system can become air locked which leads to hot spots which can cause hgf.
If you're sure the system was bled correctly I would be careful not to mention you drained and refilled the cooling system to the garage as they may try and seize upon this as the cause of the hgf.
Gary.
