I bought a fuel filter from fleebay and had a similar problem. The screw thread was way to short it only went on two or three flats. The seller gave me a full refund as the part did not fit correctly.I ended up buying one from my local motor factors store.

I do wonder if it is because the local motor factors don't stock them.
I would apply more pressure on ECP, it they have supplied the wrong part it is their problem.

So at a loose to know why it will not fit. Did rover/mg change the fuel line connections on the 2003-2004 model?
