Windscreen replacement
I have a stone chip & 8" crack in the bottom L/H side of my screen.
Don't really want to claim on insurance but I have been quoted £250 + fitting for a new one
Obviously a s/c hand one would be much cheaper but are there problems in fitting same?

I'd shop around, that seems bloody pricey to me!

Normally your insurance has a separate excess for glass replacement that does not affect your no claims bonus. If they agree that the crack could cause a failure it should be the cheapest way to go.

My insurance has a £70 excess for windscreen replacement and is separate from the main policy.
I understand that it is difficult to cut out the screens on an F or TF and be able to clean them up for re.bonding.
Some F frames have rusted in the rebate under the screen (like the RV8) so some work may be required here too.
