My luck has run out.
Having had a clean licence for over 40 years, I received in the post today, a notice of intended prosecution from Gwent police
I had gone to Cardiff to see the Wales v Fiji match & must have been Gatso'd near the city centre.
What annoys me though, it was for doing 36mph in the 30 limit.
I would have been easier to accept if they clocked me at 85? on the M4

Sorry to hear that. Very frustrating.
A colleague at work was recently caught in similar circumstances and opted for a speed awareness course instead of points. Apparently some insurers will give you a reduced premium because you've had extra training.

Some insurers will put your insurance up if you tell them you were caught speeding, but opted for the speed awareness course, just the same as if you had three points! (Liverpool Victoria!).
Advice is don't tell your insurance company unless you do receive points!

As said elsewhere read the below and consider asking for the info:
Ask for proof of the calibration of the camera. If they can't provide the proof it has been calibareted within the period required they can't use the camera as evidence.

Similar thing here - 41 years undetected crime in the UK, three 'cameras' in seven years in France - all less than 2kph over the allowed margin!
What I hadn't realised is that the French cameras are actually in lieu of annual road tax. I'd always considered concetrating on the bl****dy great camion inches away from me with the driver on his mobile was 'safer' than being 2kph over the margin. Silly me.
Be aware on holiday here that the margin is 5kph over the limit - that's only 3.1mph! At the moment English plates save you from fixed cameras, but the Gendarme with the radar gun will courteously escort you to the nearest cash point.
Incidentally, beware on sunny weekends. Popular opinion is that the Gendarmes hate being on duty at the weekends and don't like being stuck behind a desk. Sunny Sundays in particular are much more pleasant sat by the roadside with a nice little earner!

What's that black canvas thing behind the seats for?
