I was asked today at work if i knew what hydro dipping was? after a few wise cracks i said no.......then i was shown this vid which i will share with you......there are many more vids on the subject showing gun stocks and interior car parts.there is 100s of patterns to choose from so your car is not limited to just carbon fibre or wood and can be done on internal and external parts

I recently saw some picture of an F that had the dial surround, clock surround and console hydrodipped in walnut.

I had a quote a few years ago from a company in York that do it.
4x vvc wheels in carbon effect, £65 per wheel and a trophy spoiler in the same for £100.
Only thing stopping me was the week long turnaround and they said the wheels needed to be pristine so they'd be reluctant to do it.
Do a YouTube search for diy chrome kits.
That's witchcraft!!

it is a witchcraft technique but the item being processed must be squeeky clean for a good finish.....all the vids ive seen are using brand new parts......more to the question is if you decided to have wheels done ..how durable is the finished product?......have heard this process has been around or in manufacturing since the 1980s?

Saw a Wheeler Dealers episode over the weekend where they hydrodipped a rear spoiler and some BBS alloys off a Mazda RX7 with an orange and black snakeskin pattern. Most impressive finish.

Just got a quote for having the centre dash dipped with a walnut finish for my TF , a local company in Leeds says £240 including the dreaded. :omg: Think I might leave it for a bit. Amazing process to watch but, £240 ! ! !
