Interesting clips, I now realise just how important the stretch bolts are and the torque setting. Does that mean they should definitely be replaced with the head gasket or is it just good practice?

They have a stretch tolerance and should be measured before re use

i would replace the bolts for new when replacing the head gasket....the last thing you want to be doing is change the head gasket again....it would be heart breaking to fail thinking i wish id changed me bolts. also is there a issue with plastic head dowels fitted on some engines?
