I didn't know that hard drives have been around exactly as long as me.....

Had a quick look, the RAMAC IBM first went into commercial use in 1957 having been developed from 1953.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

My late dad used to work for IBM and service those! They ran on magnetic tape and were huge!

Your dad must of been a very clever guy....those computers remind me of those on the Italian job...you know the one..where they changed the reels to cause confusion about the city.

Interesting stuff! I saw the dawning of industrial computing in the power industry in the seventies. We were always a bit behind tech wise due the build time of large power plant.

Had to look up PB I only know up to Terra! 1 petabyte = one million Gigabytes.. Scary stuff! Giga = 1000 million.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

The only time I had anything to do with computers was back in the 80s when I worked for a company making computers for robotic roof supports in the mines....had to look this up ..1 petabyte is roughly....100,000 gigabytes

Sorry for pedantry but peta is 10 raised to the power of 15, so 1 PB is a million GB.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
