Had a great day out with the Potteries and South Cheshire MG club on Sunday.
The destination was the tranquil Froghall railway station, deep in the Churnet valley in Staffordshire, a stones throw away from my house!
Nearly 100 classic and modern classics turned up, all nice and shiny and in show condition, with the exception of one poor MGF which looked like it had a bump on the way there!
Sun was shining, roofs were down and the steam railway were giving out complimentary rides and free bacon butties to the MG drivers!
Also a shout out to the Leicester MG club who also came up with some cracking vehicles too!

Fortunately your hack for the day managed to remember to take some piccies, and here are some of the magnificent octo-badged wonders that were on show!

Some of the great motors just getting lined up for the days showing!

Plenty of MGB roadster were there, I did like this one in particular!...

MGB GT's with rubber bumpers are not everyone's cup of tea, but this one looked scrummy, and if I had to have a rubber B, this would be the sort of car on my wishlist.

There were several MGA's too, and these are a car I would love to own.
This Teal coloured one was just mouth-dribbly gawjus!

As was this V8 roadster with a louvered bonnet...

I think there were four or five RV8's there too, including two in Nightfire. Here's one of them, flanked by a another in Woodcote green.

Yours truly had many favourable comments on the day, and several people wanted to come over and chat about Shadow!

Here is a rarity, not many of these Octagon monikered Montegos left!

Plenty of TF's there, but only one 1954 original, and boy, was it a beaut!

This was the car that made the day for me, though. This MGTD was fully restored last year, and was absolute perfection, and was parked next to me, so I had some great info from the owner on the restoration and got to have a real detailed look around it.

This MG TC was one of the oldest cars on show, still looking good after nearly 70 years of travels..

Another MGA now, I do like these! I want it!

This was the only vintage saloon car on the day, this I am certain is a Y type...

Club member Martin Biddle, aint on the forums, but now a picture of his Immaculate TF is!
Martin is a bit OCD when it comes to his car, and believe it or not, has more bling than our own Mr, Bluestreak!
Enjoy!

Anyone after a TD? Here is one up for grabs...looked in good order, but personally, I prefer the red...

After free breakfast and car perusing, a swift pint at the Railway Inn pub, it was time to check out the railway. We had a nice green Polish tank loco steamed up for the rides, a scenic sojourn along the Churnet valley, following the canal with a stop off to the Black Lion pub at Consall, and ending at Leekbrook, some five miles upline.
Here is the train ready for boarding...

And returning back to the station...Choo..Choo!

Finally, a shot of the canal-side journey, this was taken just after the quite longish tunnel befor Leekbrook.

A great day out and some lovely cars, brekky for free, Icecreams and beer.....and a ride on a steamer...
If all Sundays could be like this!

I know the club has runs most weekends, my next weekend out with them is at RAF Cosford on Sunday 10th June, where we will be one of the attractions at the Cosford airshow.
Its going to be a big event, as Cosford are joining in with the 100th anniversary celebrations of the RAF, and its also Cosford's 70th anniversary celebration, so it should be an amazing day out.
Went to the Cosford museum a couple of years ago with the club, and had a great day. The museum has many historical, famous and special aircraft, vehicles, missiles and bombs on show.
With the added attraction of the airshow, then its a day not to be missed!

That car certainly has more bling than mine...apart from the chrome trim rings I have on the dash...the rest of mine is standard issue.A bit too much their for me....I like bling but looking like it could of come off the production line wearing it and not dressed for Christmas if yer know what I mean?

What I did find impressive with his car were the MGF centre dashboard leather cover with the green embroided MG logo. It was a great fit, but to fit one, you do need to take the dashboard panel out completely.
He has also had it remapped, high lift cams fitted and polished ports in the head, and a performance exhaust. He says his 135 is now nearly up to 160 performance.
His car is also just as immaculate under the bonnet and around the engine bay. I may have mentioned before his polished inlet manifold, looks like it has been chromed, its that blingy, also the throttle body is just as good.

Its certainly a head turning car and I am most impressed with it.
