Is this where all the "desirable" cars that were victim of the government "scrappage scheme" ended up

If so someone is making money out of them?

Another demonstration of ill-conceived, stupid, wasteful and counter-productive government policy, still there is a silver lining............there was a row of dak-daks (VW beetles) :bust: I've always hated the uncomfortable, slow, noisy, smelly, hideously ugly, ill-handling, diabolical evil bastards of things!

Come on Cobbler , don't be grumpy ! Is this because your lads got a 5-0 beating at cricket because they wouldn't let you use sand paper ? ? :nonod: You did win the Ashes so you can't be too upset about life .
Only joking .

Those cars will never see the road again due to the politics involved but I could see a compromise where they are sold to specialist breakers who will be able to recycle the rare parts.

Looks like a lot of them are already being stripped for parts...but by whom?

If the government picked up the bill for scrappage, then they belong to the government, which means they belong to all of us :woohoo:

I understand that there is at least 15 of these large sites dotted around with cars waiting to be taken to licensed breakers. This one could be the former RAF Thurleigh base.

The original plan was for the cars to be recycled after they were rendered safe to transport, fuels and oils removed etc and then stripped for parts, but the plan like most government ideas was ill thought out hence this huge backlog.
Classic car enthusiasts should start a petition to get some of these cars sorted, before the RAF start to use the cars for target practice?
Come to think of it we don't have any money to buy ammunition for the aircraft at the moment; so they will be safe for a while yet...….hope there are no hostile countries reading this forum?
