Re:Exhausting work…
Well, that was fun! The old exhaust was blowing from somewhere above the box, and then after a pothole the cat internals came adrift so I decided it was time to freshen up one of the last original bits of the car! Bought a type approved cat, and.. after some research, a gravity stainless exhaust, mainly due to the fact it had great reviews and was the deepest / quietest of the aftermarket stainless exhausts, impressed when it turned up! Clean welds, straight flanges etc, bolted the cat to it indoors with a gasket and a smear of hi temp silicone, then today got the old exhaust off (two bolts actually cracked off! The last had time be cut), took the heat shield off, undersealed the boot floor etc and then put the new one on.. bit of fighting with the o2 sensor, I unplugged it and removed from the car to get it off but still had to cut it out of its old spot with the trusty grinder  anyway, it’s stunning and sounds wonderful! I’ll let the pics do the talking…

Looks tidy - have you tried cashing in the old cat?

To be honest it was so rotten and in the way it went straight to the tip!

Oh no, they recycle the precious metals inside so are not worried about the state of the casing as long as the matrix is still there.
