Wing mirror fell apart

This MAY be related to work I had done a few weeks ago (mirrors and other bits painted), but he's away for a while so I can't ask him...

Anyway, was driving along today and the glass on the passenger side started to come out. I lifted it out completely, and nothing seems to be broken, and I can sort of push it back in temporarily, but there's this big spring which needs to be attached somewhere...

I can see the two hooks (blue) go into two holes in the casing, but not where the spring attaches.

I suspect one end goes to the yellow bit, but the other???

Or am I completely wrong!

Aahhh... I think I see. There's a bit(s) missing, isn't there - guess I'll have to get a whole new mirror.

Hope I can get the newly sprayed cover switched over without damaging it...
