Help please.i have an 2004 MGF tf.Sunstorm with 5600mls on the clock which now requires cam belts,as this requires major work ,i have been quoted £200 for this .I have been quoted £800 for this including the head gasket replacing at the same time, which would save the £200 .should i go for this & risk the head gasket failiure or not ?.
Any help please

If the headgasket hasn't failed then don't replace it :yesnod:

contact Russell at http://www.mgroversolutions.com/#
He will sort you out. He will give you free advice, and do a good job of whatever is necessary.
Well recommended!:yesnod:

I wouldn't change the gasket if it is ok. Save the money in case it does go.

Hi All,
Just as a matter of interest what is Russell's operating radius for head gasket change.

Mmm, he came up to Carlisle to do ours, and I know he's flown to Ireland. :yesnod:

I would be tempted to get the uprated gasket and oil rail fitted, at least this way the engine only has to be taken apart once.

I had russell do mine a while back, gives you total peace of mind and he's cheaper than the quoted £800

Firstly welcome and yes contact Russell as mentioned. He fixed our F that needed a water pump and did the cambelt at the same time for £150. Excellent work and a top bloke. Over on the ZS forum we are getting a group thing together as there are over 6 people requiring belts doing to the ZS180 and that's north of the border and one travelling over from Ireland as he is that good and reasonably priced.

To be totally honest I didn't know of him purely because before aquiring the 'F' I only ever came across KV6 issues, which I know fairly well. So now I have the 4 pot k-series I now know of him! Having speaking to him whilst he was fixing ours I got chatting about the V6 belts and he does them. Cheaper than the guy I was going to use.
