Good news for all forum members...
My 'other' forum has a 'site supporter' option and that goes back into the coffers using annual subs, the remainder of any fees are paid by the joint owners. It also helps to pay for club stand banners and large sticker orders in advance.
Actually £5 for life is a good idea as some owners will not stay in the fold and move on, so there will always be an influx of new members. Then again maybe a £5 annual fee stays or pay £15 for life membership, equates to three years and probably might mean life for some owners! A win/win scenario I reckon.

a very generous offer BUT are you now going to be paying for the site out of your own pockets?
it is your site Kara (and for that i thank you) but it also belongs in a way to all of us as we make it what it is............... so why shouldn't we help towards the running costs
i know i may be in the minority but £5 a year is neither here nor there, and you never know what the future holds
perhaps Gos could do one of his polls to see what others think :dc:
ps maybe you could just give us a badge of honour for our profiles instead :dunno:
Have to say I agree - if people can't spare £5 over a year (that's less than 10p a WEEK!) then is that saying something about them? There will soon be more member discounts etc and I don't see why you should not pay a subscription of some kind to get discounts at online stores... if they don't want the discounts they can just be forum friends..... they'd only have to buy one item very often to get back more than their fiver anyway!

a fiver a year is affordable to the average child nowadays whereas if you were to pay ALL the upkeep costs it may prove quite costly.
"A badge of honour" now that would swing it for me.
"perhaps Gos could do one of his polls to see what others think" maybe I will do a poll to see if a poll is justified
yep the more I think about it the more I can feel a poll coming on :yesnod:

Blimey guys & gals I had no idea you felt this way.
Firstly let me just say thank you for sharing your thoughts on the matter and for your lovely comments about the forum. :grouphug:
If I can share my thoughts with you... the monthly cost of running this forum is £11.99 so in all honesty now the startup costs are out of the way it is really quite cheap. I've had a look at the joining & subscription stats and I am extremely confident that we can get two paid subscriptions pcm with this new system which will pretty much cover the running costs. Therefore to charge more just seems both unnecessary and unfair. Some of you have made the point that you don't mind paying for something that you enjoy but I enjoy the forum to so I don't mind paying either!
If you want to support the forum then the best way you can do that is by keeping on chatting away as you are, starting new threads and generally making the place as lively and fun as it has been these past few months! :yesnod:
Or alternatively, if you wish to financially support the forum then there is another option I have been considering lately and that is to help raise the money for MSA approval so that we can become a recognized MG car club. Now if this is something you would be interested in then there would have to be a annual subscription as we would have to annually renew our MSA membership. The great thing about MSA approval is that the meets & runs any T-Bar Friends do can be authorized and insured etc. also it helps pay for forum run events. Therefore if you're interested let me know and perhaps we can rework the entire subscription system e.g. a one off £5 subscription gets you all the current benefits of a forum friendfor life however for an additional £5 per yearyou get "club" membership as well.
Let me know what you think!

That sounds like a good idea Kara. If the subs can pay for registration and possibly club meet paraphernalia then I think it would be money well spent. We don't want to look like paupers when we join an event with other MG clubs eh?! :hehe:
I also need to talk to you about Rimmer Bros and their possible banner ad if you are up for that?

Well we do own MGs so I think it's a given that most of us are poor with all our money being spent on repairs and sexy mods!
We'll have a proper msn chat about banner ads etc. this weekend if you're up for it?

Gos you are our resident pollster so none of your polls are daft! In fact they are often essential and to me you're like our one-stop-shop for polls!
And we may actually need a new poll to see which option people prefer e.g. sub for life, annual sub, or annual sub for club. :yesnod:
