mgf bonnet release!!!

hi everyone im new on here

i just purchased my 1st mgf 1.8 x reg, tidy wee thing she is but after getting it home i tried to pop the bonnet so went in the boot and the lever is not attached to anything!! grrrrr!

put her up on ramps and tried to fiddle with the catch but cant really see it noticed there is a tie wrap around the spring but when i pull it nothing happens even if im putting pressure on from above.

its stressing me out.

i have another wee problem regarding the handbrake, but i wnt to get this one sorted first!

any help would be greatfully received!

Can you reach the actual lock area under the bonnet? Usually being able to 'ping' the lock would do it.

If you can get under and get a photo we may be able to help further...

hi i have tried to post pics but it just says enter url? i dont understand. i have managed to take pics from the front but not under as they are not clear.
the tie wrap around the spring seems to be completely jammed? could this be holding it closed??
i have tried getting to the catch from under with a screwdriver to no avail, is there any other way i can post the pics? this bonnet release is driving me mad

try using www.photobucket.com load the pics there from the file on your computer, then under the pics you will have 4 addresses, copy the img code one and paste it on here

as to you problem I suspect fiddling around with 2 longs screwdrivers will have to do the trick :S

did you load the image on photobucket? you should have a whole adress not just the [/img] thing

yeah i think i just fixed it there, its come out massive tho oops.

If you can see the mechanism as in the picture then you just need to grip the arm with something to operate it. It will make it easier if you spray it with release oil and leave it for a while and have someone is press down on the bonnet above the catch when you try to release it.
