LED Replacements

Hey Adam, I mananged to get all the center console LED's replaced with blue! .... minus the rear fog switch which I've utterly destroyed in the process. Whoops. Ah well, always plenty of those on fleabay and elsewhere, but it means I'll have a caping hole instead of a console at the Teesside meet, though with my hardtop still on I doubt anyone would notice. :shifty:
A word of caution to those thinking about changing the LED's in your center console, don't go with blue. It's nigh on impossible to get ready-made blue LED's for a 12v system so I had to calculate the correct resistor values and solder them inline with the LED's. I don't know why they don't make ready-made blue ones for 12v (they just have a resistor already inside), maybe CJJ can shine some light on this. Long story short, the fog/screen switches do NOT have enough room for two 3mm LED's plus two small 0.6W resistors. So I went with just changing the backlight LED to blue and keeping the default on/off LED as green or yellow or whatever they are by default. The window switches on the other hand were easy peasy.
... another tip; when choosing surface mount LED's to replace the ones in your clock and oil gauge, choose ones that are NOT half the size of the already tiny original ones. I did and had to break out the magnifying stand and tweezers. :shake: But got it done and they work!
EDIT: One more thing for Adam, turns out you didn't drop that thing in my gearbox. I found it under the seat. Hooray!

Got it all back together!
... minus one switch blank which I dropped down the gear linkage.
Will post pics of it all lit up whenever it's dark and I get a free moment. WAY better than the default orange imho.

Looking forward to 'em Mike :yesnod:- Thinking of doing the same to mine (except the dropping bits into the gearlinkage part!)
