MGF Jacking Points
Hi all-Wonder if you would mind just passing on a few words of wisdom please regarding the following..
I want to jack up my MGF but don’t want to use the normal reinforcing strips –they are looking pretty mangled.
Can I –
1.jack up using the sub frame on either side
2.Will this action cause too much twisting or damage to the sub frame.
3.Should I jack up of using the centre points and then lower the sub frame both sides onto supports, equalising the weight.
4.Is there an alternative,
thanks Mike

Should be fine - I often jack the MGF using the subframe as I don't want to damage the jacking points. Tend to jack one side, stick in an axle stand then repeat at the other side.

I only ever use the sill points on any car for emergency wheel changes. These points should only ever be used in conjunction with the correct jack for the vehicle or with an adaptor if using a hydraulic jack. Using any other jack on these points will result in damage.
I normally jack using the subframe. It is also a good idea to use a jack with a rubber plate on the top, or a pice of wood. This should stop the protective coating on the subframe getting chipped off and rust getting in.
