Radio/security codes

Is it possible to locate radio codes or key fob codes before problems arise?i.e.
Before the battery is disconected or if I need another key /fob as a spare.
We bought our TF with only one key n fob and having heard of loss of radio codes which I have no clue as to what it will be. I was thinking of being prepared for the inevitable.
The key fob being on oval shape with two buttons and the radio a kenwood chef,oops 6 stack cd player radio and what ever else it does thing.
(Too many buttons for me):0)
Was this information given on first buying the car or is it some thing that was kept by rover as a security issue ?
