Will the later version of door card fit in a Mark 1 MGF?

In a word - yes.
Obviously you need the newer door handle surround as well.

That's a lovely door panel love the colour and the door pocket!! :D

those are standard tweeters laz maybe they weren't fitted to mk1 MGFs? the speaker rings are available at Mike Satur

on the question of door cards, I heard clips break a lot when rmeoving the cards is it easy to find clips? thanks

Thanks for the compliments.

The speakers have no rings.... I CHEATED! I masked the grille area with masking tape and then sprayed the edge area with silver spray paint... looks as good as the speaker rings (almost) and at a fraction of the cost!

Well you made a good job of cheating! I thought they were Mike Satur rings.:yesnod:

I presume you detached the speaker/tweeter covers from the door card to spray them.:dunno:

I have a very late 2000 (registered 2001) model MGF and i think i have the Mk2 door cards... is that normal?

Yeah.
The Mk2 F is also called the MY2000. So the change came in late 1999/2000. The interior was upgraded, and the engine got the Mems3 treatment. Externally the windscreen surround became body-coloured instead of Black.
