Court this morning
Not for anything I have done, but to try to get a business to pay its bill to my company. The invoice was rendeded last November, and only part paid - so I have to go to court to get the rest.
It is so frustrating as it has taken this long to resolve - we then got a CCJ against them, but they have appealed to get the judgement set aside. It is that hearing today.
Stressed

The downside of self employment is always getting money out of folks. Im owed a scary amount by one company and am about to pass it on to my solicitors, it wasn't nice when it first started, I had just enough cash in the bank for a weeks worth of diesel to get to sites, after that I would have been parked till someone paid me.
Good luck with it all mate.

Thanks for all your posts - that is what I love about this place - support, community feeling and mates.
Well - the other side got our CCJ set aside, but only after having to pay our costs for the hearing today. Basically they filled the first form in incorrectly, then backtracked - it was to be expected really.
The District Judge urged us, whilst in the same building, to discuss the matter and try to reach a settlement. In the end I accepted 50% of the money owing, a settlement of about £1,900.00. On reflection it would cost me more than that in my time to file a response to the defence and to have to appear in court again. The other side were also trying to counter-claim (for what, god only knows) so there is a chance we wouldnt have got anything.
Memo to self - be more choosy who you do work for in future..!!
Note to forum - thanks guys and girls for your support.
Paul
PS - cheers to Andy too - our posts must have crossed..!!
