Help getting the drive shafts out

Well the sub frame is out and I'm starting to prep for taking the engine and gearbox out but stuck at the first hurdle.

What is the easiest way of poping the drive shaft out at the gearbox?

I have disconnected the hubs from the suspension, two ball joints and the forward arm, to allow the drive shafts to be taken out but have had no luck with getting them to pop out.

I've tried using 2 screwdrivers to pop them out but no joy. Any other options. Just don't want to beat hell out of them.

Check out Clive's how to here . It's for a clutch change but it includes removing driveshafts.

Hi,

18G.1761 is the original tool to undo the shafts.
Use a bigger screwdriver instead and give it good hit to release the shafts.
Take care not to hurt the gaiters.

Thanks Deiter. already tried the really big screwdriver method. It has not worked for me yet. Think I will have to get a pry bar set and try that instead.

Sorry, I should have said.

I bought a set of draper pry bars to get the job done. I used the large one to get the short drive shaft out, but had to use one of the shorter ones to gain access to pop the longer shaft.

CJJ's how to certainly gave me the confidence to get them out. Otherwise i would have been worried that I was going to damage something while trying to get them out.

I think quite a few of your how to's will be getting used during the refurbishment of my motor.
