I took my MGF out to the local hot-rod club cruise-in last night.
Andy got lots of positive comments from people who had never seen an MGF before.
Here's Andy alongside a car with a slightly bigger horsepower rating
"Shelby Super Snake"

Where's da injin ting?

The view up the hill

Complete with Water Skis on the roof rack

And they say an MGF isn't practical!

This Shelby's a bit older

Only one car had one of these! :woohoo:

Well done Rich, nice pictures, quite an eclectic mix you had there

Love the small crowd in front of your car, it looks like you've just hurled some verbal abuse at them and they are now debating whether to ignore 'the mad old guy with the little English sports car' or stroll down the hill and beat you to death with a seal club.

The Shelby GT 500 is a wonderful colour........ and those white stripes, very nice, bit close together and no pinstripes on the outside, but very nice.

What ? An MGF Register baseball cap, you traitor  you don't deserve the Border Patrol sticker. You need to get your priorities in order mate

See David, I told you not to trust him.

Oooooo BTW Rich did you get any pictures of the stingray?

Rich your car looks fantastic  a real credit to you.

The group in front of my car showed up in a massive mid-70's Dodge sedan that looked like it hadn't been washed for decades. To top it off it had Saskatchewan plates. I have no idea why they showed up, they must have just blundered across the meet.. They were all wearing wool hats with ear flaps and looked like a bunch of tree planters. When they left they drove out between the Shelby and my car. Everyone was terrified they would hit one or the other.
I don't have other pics of the Stingray. They are pretty common here and I didn't think of taking any shots of it. If it shows up again I will be sure to get some..
As for the MGF Register cap, As I'm the only MGF owner in Western Canada the Register asked me to be their rep. There is also a rep for Eastern Canada, John Stevenson. John is in town today and I am off to meet him at a local Tim Horton's for a coffee.
As he lives in Newfoundland with a foot in the Atlantic and I am on the Pacific coast it looks like the two of us will be having our first National Meeting!

Much more interesting than our local meets, they seem to consist of a couple of pimply 18 year olds in their mums corsas with a gaggle of 15 yr old school girls...............normally at maccy dees drive throughs.

Home to black Alfa Romeo 159 3.2 V6 Q4 ,green MGF VVC and red MG Maestro T16.

Haha! You've just perfectly described the local meet!

There seems to be a predilection for retro fitting a dual exit drain pipe exhaust system as well. :yesnod:
On a 1200cc 'lump' so the car sounds like a flatulent pensioner trapped in a wheelie bin while it 'accelerates'.

Bit like this stunning example.

Funny stuff! The hot-rod crowd here is a bit different. Mostly old grey haired guys with heavily modified vintage cars and a mattering of young bucks with vettes and Shelbys. All of their cars generally sport tricked out V8's, often with blowers the size of garden sheds sticking out of the bonnet. They meet every thursday and everyone is welcome. There are always a couple of Brit cars including a guy that shows up every week in a Roller. Sometimes the Beetle club will show up sounding like a swarm of hornets.
Funny enough the meet the other night was at Maccy Dees, or as we call it here, "Rotten Ronnie's". One of the rodders owns the franchise, and it is out by the airport where the car noise doesn't bother anybody. The group was run off from a couple of local car parks as some of the younger guys like to do burnouts. :woohoo:

One advantage of being near the airport is sometimes motoring celebrities drop by. This one was taken last summer. Jay Leno was in town to do a show and the rodders lined up their cars on the road to the executive jet terminal. Jay had his driver stop and spent over an hour talking cars. Nice guy!

Show car

There are a few scratches, cracks and scrapes here and there and the lacquer coat is peeling the roof is particularly bad but the paint underneath seems OK. There is also a problem with the electronic instrument pod. The only thing that works is the rev counter but I don’t have the knowledge to sort out the wiring.

more like a show and tell.............

Oy. When were you on one of our runs?

At least it isn't the official one, it's just the one I hand out to the people with no colour to keep them happy. ;)

No worries,
I've moved it to the loo as I have had plenty of runs there.
