Changed the Indicator unit - fault still apparent! Hazard lights come on with indicators. Flasher unit??? :-? Or the dreaded dodgy earth...

Most hazard switches connect all of the indicators together, so could be a good place to start.

Did it start by itself? Or after some work had been done?

Just by itself. Wife came home from work and said the indicators weren't working properly. When i checked, all indicators came on whether i clicked left or right. Still the same. Occasionally works correctly, but mostly all lights come on. The opposite dash light flashes more faintly than the normal side, but externally all the indicators flash as if hazards were selected. Hope that makes sense...

Do you know anyone you can swap the hazard switch with just to rule that out?

When you say indicator unit do you mean the stalk?

I would put my money on the hazard switch. I was quite surprised when I took the F out for a test drive with the console out and found that everything flashed with the switch out. Could be that the plug is loose on the back of the switch. Pull the center dash vent out and you can easily reach the back of the switch and the plug.

Yes, the stalk has been changed. I'll try hazard switch next, after checking its connector...

Hazard switch, flasher unit and indicator stalk all replaced - fault still apparent. Argh! Looks like bulbs or wiring next... :(

Looks like a dodgy connection/wire at the plug into the fuse panel (9 / 10 way white plug near flasher unit). Wiggled wires/removed and reconnected plug. Faulty lights dimmed and brightened as the wires were moved until fault disappeared. Will monitor to see if it comes back...

It's good you've isolated the fault, :yesnod: but another one we can put down to the cheap/poor electrical kit that MGR used. :nonod:

I've just isolated an intermittently operating passenger window to the plug behind the switch. :yesnod:
