Doorcard trim

I have some 'TF' doorcards that I have to fitted in my Mk1 F but I want to change the trim.

This is held on by some VERY fragile looking plastic pins which are held in place by some viscous looking flat round metal 'thingies' with a star pattern cut out of them (does this make sense?).

Does anyone know the best method for removing these without breaking the plastic pins?

we do these all the time as we do two retrims a week,u will break some of them,but get some narrow pliers and rotate them off,then to put them on simply use a socket and push them home
