It's true. My daughter briefly had one of these cars (an L reg) before she got married. A chap in Cornwall offerred her £1600 cash on the spot for it when she was on holiday down there. She phoned me up and I advised her to take it, as she had only paid £1100 for it weeks before. Anyway, now she wants another.

But, ohhhh the haters there when an mgf or mgtf is even mentioned. What's that all about? I love the mx5 (and all small roadsters tbh).

Good or bad though. It's all publicity. :evil:

I've been a long time member there. But couldn't remember my password. So, I made a new account. It's one of those forums where you have to wait days for re-activation otherwise.

I have to add that she let me drive her mx5 a few times before it was sold and, despite it being an older model (1994) , it was mint and handled very much like a 'go-kart'. So low.

Seriously, there is an awful lot of whipped up rivalry between some owners of MX5s versus MGF/TFs. :nonod:
I've never understood it.
Like Leigh, I think all 2 seat convertible sports cars are good. :yesnod:
My personal preference is the MG but If someone prefers something different.:shrug:

In truth, I went out to buy an MX5 :omg: , but came back with the MG.

I personally prefer the look of the MGF, and its mostly British! But the MX5 is good, and probably more reliable. But my other options were a Midget or Triumph Spitfire, so an MGF is probably MORE reliable than them!!!! :broon:

Shame there are so many 'my Dad is bigger than your Dad' attitudes rife on nearly every forum you go on except ours - which is why I like it here :yesnod:

BTW if that guy thinks 90 is quick in an MGF thank god he hasn't sat next to me, hypothetically speaking of course.

I've never owned an MX5, but a friend of mine has. He sold it a few weeks after I got the TF and begrudgingly admitted he preferred the TF.

Having said that, he never got to see my F as he was working away during the time I had it.

They're great little cars. But I've only been in an early marque. Wouldn't mind having a go in a newer model though. They seem much smaller or lower down. Or, is it just me?

The MX5 is the quintessential british sports car - built in Japan.

I've got plenty of front engined front wheel drive tin top cars, the F is my little bit of different.

That made me laugh out loud! It is also so true!

I was parked next to a first gen MX-5 the other day and was very happy how much better my F looked!
I prefer the simpler look of the early MX5's to the steroid look of the later cars. The one thing I really like about the later MX-5's is the fold away hardtop, although it must all but eliminate the trunk and
one can only imagine what it would cost to put right if it failed. (Never mind the cost of the option in the first place!) :ohmy:
