Double ouch.

Double ouch. was created by Leigh Ping

Driving home on the motorway on Saturday evening I heard a resounding 'crrrack' followed by 'wobbly buffeting' on my perspex wind deflector. It was cheap anyhow, but I thought it might last more than a few months.

Anyway, I thought that, seeing as the crack was just an inch or so, I'd try a bit of superglue on it before consigning it to history.

As I was doing that I noticed that some upstanding citizen had snapped my aerial off. Not all of it. Just the long whip aerial part. The stub remains in place in the car. Most likely kids.

I listen to the radio mainly and have just tested to see if it still works. It doesn't. Any thoughts on a suitable replacement please?

When I replaced mine I put on one of the original fiberglass aerials.
At least with the way they splinter there is a chance the perp will cut his hand. :P

EDIT: Funny enough, my replacement aerial was broken in the post so I dremelled off the broken bit and replaced the plastic tip on the end. It works fine in spite of being 4" shorter.

:( Sorry to hear of your troubles Leigh.

I always thought the original MG aerial was too tall and looked like a Remote Controlled Car's aerial.

The original was missing when I got mine and I got one of these universal aerials 16" from a local motor spares shop, which has good reception and is not so much a tempting target for toe rags.

I replaced Meg's original hideous aerial with an alloy 'stubby' one - but reception was poo - so I changed to this and it's fine now:

So far no little scrotes have broken it - I think they don't realise it goes up and leave it alone! I only cost a few quid on eBay too! B)

It looks nice. But I can't be doing with a manual one. It's too much like hard work. I live in the city. So, I'll try a stubby.. first. :)

Aaaah Raymondo.. Superb :D You're not too far from me are you? I wished I'd have seen this an hour ago before I went out for a spin. I'd have picked it up. :)

When is best for you? Or, would you prefer to post it? I'm off all week. So, anytime is good for me. I have a little present for you in return for the favour too. :)

I was sent two of these from China and I only bought one. With there being no return address :) I'd like you to have them in return for your generosity. I use the other pair / set in the car. They're pretty cool and useful when it rains with the clear lenses. So, let me know when and where please Ray. Thanks.
