Forum advertisements!

Hi everyone!

Just a general announcement to let you know that over the next few days advertisements will start appearing on the forum.

Unfortunately due to Frank & I being made redundant we have to look at alternative ways of keeping the forum running and alongside the 'Forum Friends' feature this is one of the best methods of making sure we keep the T Bar going for everyone.

Now I don't want you to worry that this place is going to be lit up like las vegas with ads everywhere you look! Over the next couple of days they will be repositioned to ensure that they are in subtle but accessible areas. Also it will take a while (approx. a week or two) to make sure only relavent ads are displayed so until then you may well find that Thai bride you've been looking for! But be assured that soon only relavent ads will be displayed. :thumbsup:

Therefore if over the next couple of days the forum layout looks a bit different every time you sign in it's just me tweaking with the ads - we're not being hacked or anything!

I hope everyone understands my reasons for doing this. To me, it's better to have a forum with a few discreetly placed adds than no forum at all! Particularly seeing as we're having so much fun at the mo!

Thanks mate. In all fairness aside from the financial aspect I'm actually quite relieved - been stuck in a rut way too long now so now we've got no excuse but to go for something better.

Ads are fine as long as they are supportive in my opinion - if you don't want to check out the offers you just don't click - 'simples' as the Meerkats say!

I agree.... it's the way forward, why shouldn't you make the site commercially viable! Good luck with it!

Thank you Jim & Karen! Well if the forum ever gets to the point where it's making more money than the running costs we've got several ideas for ways to invest it back into the site e.g. organise more high profile runs, get some T Bar merchandise made up, basically anything that will improve our community! I think it's going to take a while to get to that point but would be fantastic if it does! :thumbsup:

Ads don't bother me, as Adam says you don't have to click on them Pop ups that are resistant to my 2 pop-up blockers are a different matter though :shake:

I totally agree - sod having any pop-up ads!

If that happens I'll just removed Adsense and find an alternative. :yesnod:
