When I first got Madam I bought a spoiler for her bum, however it was horrible, so I ordered another one, sent the first one back to the second address, had a tantrum and sent the second one back as well :slapme:

So do you think yes or no for a boot spoiler on an F, I just cannot make my mind up

If it's just for looks, do what ever pleases you. They can look quite nice, speak to Pendle Lass, the one she has is nice.

The MGF/TF does not need a rear spoiler as the flat boot lid provides all the down force needed.

The 195bhp MGF Cup didn't have one

Sometimes less is more :yesnod: You could change your F boot lid for one from a TF, this gives you a bit more shape and is still subtle. I thought about doing this but prefer the looks of the F and want to keep it that way.

Spoilers can look nice on regular cars occasionally. In some cases they even make those cars look a lot better. But your car already looks perfect Jan. Nothing appears to be missing. I suppose a lot of it depends on the colour.

If you did put one on, it would be a real drag. ;) Get it?

Personally I don't like the spoilers on the F, including the Trophy. My vote would be NO but it is down to personal preference.

I love the look of the MGF Cup car, that doesn't need spoilers to give it a mean and purposeful look :)

I like them although you don't really need one. Humphrey doesn't have one but i have been tempted. They are handy if you go for a swim - your cossy dries real quick tied to it.
I might be the odd one oot but i think they can make your bum look nice!

As ever it is your car and your cash so you can do whatever you like thats legal and safe. But, my inputs; just from memory The MGF does not need one so it may just add weight and possibly drag. I would look into what it does in total drag change in lift and movement of the centre of pressure.
Cd measurements are not to be used in isolation. You can reduce Cd and get more total drag, this may still be a good choice, we fitted a spoiler that increased total drag to an F86 Sabre back in 50s and the improvemt in control response to coordinated turn inputs at transonic speeds was reckoned to be worth the penalty.
I did however add the Seat front splitter to my car based on 0 data and it looking nice ;)

Have you checked that data since you fitted it Stan?

Whilst I have the trophy spoiler and splitter I wouldn't necessarily opt to have them. As Paul and others have said, it really is personal preference. It is said to increase performance, however the difference is nominal - you're better off with a splitter than a spoiler, which you have! I won't be getting rid of mine, cos I'd have some unsightly holes in my boot! But I think Madam is pretty perfect just the way she is - I think a spoiler might be overkill...

Wouldnt it be nice to have a wind tunnel. It neednt be an expensive one. The reason its a coefficient is the Wright brothers rudimentary set up used to balance a model against a plane plate. They would then divide the cross sectional area of the model by the flat area that balanced it. so if 2 square cms of model was balanced by 4 sq cms of of plate, then your Cd is 0.5. Or whatever coefficient applies in the axis you are measuring. This let them acheive a lot without expensive kit.
Was that more than you wanted to know? :(

Haha  . How it drives and differs with the front spoiler before and after would have sufficed. Try and keep it to laymans. For my sake. ;)

Mine had a rear spoiler on it when I bought it and I quite like the looks of it, but would I add one to a car without one, mmm... not sure if I would. I think the F does look quite nice without one.
