There are fittings for the hard top just behind the door.

In Whiz's pic below you can clearly see the adjustment screw, just move the foot up and down until it lands nicely on the fixed bracket and clips firmly with no play but not excessive force as you do up the over centre catch. You only need to do this the first time you fit it

When I bought my green hood I had to take the ones off my old black hood. They are quite small and not fixed to the frame itself. They are held in place by the bolts that secure the hood to the car.

Sorry to hear of your problems Paul, hope you're back on the road soon.

Here are two good threads with lots of information regarding the hardtop

Thinking of Fitting a Hardtop? Things to Consider.

MGF Hood removal

Should just warn people new to MGF/TF ownership
. Like myself, one of the first things, especially when you can see winter approaching, is you start thinking a hardtop will be a good idea.

However after purchasing one you'll find yourself on a sunny winter day wishing you could have a topless drive, you'll begin to dislike the hardtop as it denies you the spontaneous hood down pleasure of topless motoring. It will take up lots of space in your garage, shed or spare bedroom, you will eventually sell it on ebay and never regret having sold it.

Don't say I didn't warn you :bust:
