hi all,

well, i had a busy day today. found that my boot and passenger footwell were wet through, so set to with finding out the reasons. so, first up, remove all of the interior :omg:

found some nice rusty bits :( thankfully they passed the 'big screwdriver stabby poky' test :broon: so no real damage.

]

found the source of the passenger footwell leak......

so set about changing the airbox for the later type:

it was a real pain in the arris, with the most difficult bolt having rusted solid, so i had to hack most of the box out to get to the bolt :rant:

and then did some cleaning while i was there.... :whistle:

so, tomorrow is reassembly time, hopefully the interior would have dried out in the old mans garage.
and i need to figure out the water ingress into the boot. are there any common causes? i was thinking boot seal, but can't see any signs of water entry around the seal. it does seem to be mostly around the passenger side of the boot though if that means anything to anyone?

cheers all, will post up pics of the 'changes' tomorrow......... ;)

ok, so i worked on the car from 0900 to 1930 today :nonod: but i got a lot done :yesnod:

first off, a big :broon: to paul for correctly guessing the source of the water ingress into the boot - it was indeed the rear light seal. all sorted now, thanks mate :beer:

so, on to tidying up the bonnet area - some silver spray should do the trick :)

]

i also sprayed the centre console red, the vents red, and the door card cappings red....... only got pics of the centre console though due to time :(

the clock and oil temp gauge have been swapped round, and backlit in red LED. will do a proper interior pic thread nwxt week when i'm off work again :broon:

cheers everyone,

Lee

Lee (and Paul if you're reading - I know you mentioned it when you came round)

Any tips on the silicone work in the lights?
It's one of the jobs for the weekend - is it a case of sealing\reinforcing the light gasket or more a case of "plug that hole"?

I know you mentioned about ppl putting some plastic in there Paul but I can't find it anywhere on t'interweb :-?

Ebay + Nectar = lots of MGF points
