Sooty Exhaust
The engine is running well , idling smoothly, reeving freely and accelerating pleasingly. No oil or coolant problems. Its running so well that I am inclined to leave it alone but keep an eye on it?
Appreciate any thoughts What could cause this.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Cleaned up the exhaust pipes with a rag then took the MG for a great run of about 120 kms and the exhaust is as clean as when I left. So that's all that was needed a good run to blow the cobwebs out.
Note to myself --- take sweetie for a big run often.
Thanks for helpful advice and patience with my mg paranoia .
Thanks for info on the real Sooty
