Central locking
When I press the fob to open, it unlocks and then locks again straight away.
The only way to get in is to open the door quickly as soon as I press the fob.
It still locks again straight away and then when I go to get out the bloody doors locked :bang:
Sometimes when I press the fob the lock will unlock, lock, unlock, lock quite a few times before settling on locked.
Any ideas what's causing it?

In the car or on the fob?

It's the passenger lock that's making the noises.
Are they easy to source and replace?

If so, then I'd change the battery in your fob and re-synch it before changing any lock mechanisms or motors.
The symptoms you describe can be manifest with a dying battery in the fob.
As said already, it is also possible that tampering with the door card can inhibit the lock pin motion and cause the same symptom.
Good luck.

I've got a 2004 160 Coupe that I just took delivery of, and as I was about to drive it away, the previous owner (who had hidden a few issues with the car from me) mentioned that the batteries in the fobs (later octagonal one) may be on the way out. The car alarm has sounded a few times and the fob didn't seem to turn it off. (Its temperamental)
I can lock but not open (or other way around!) the door with one fob, the other being U/S.
Any suggestions on the latter fob, is it as straight forward?
Thanks fellas and best wishes.
Ken
