New front hubs.
Well, I cleaned up the hubs today.
Although it looks worse, it is only surface rust that they have acquired while in storage.
I got the drill and Dremel out with wire brushes on and gave them a good seeing too.
Here you can see before on the right and after on the left.
I then degreased them and sprayed them up with this stuff, using my airbrush.

I think they look a lot better now.
I also gave the new TREs a coat to help them look new for longer.

I'm lucky. When guru Pitka did my front brakes he stripped the front hubs and got them blasted.. Zinc primed then new bearings fitted and I top coated them in 2k..
Takes forever prepping stuff.. But so satisfying to see it all nice n shiny.

I didn't think about painting my new TREs before fitting them yesterday and I've had the tracking done now. Am kicking myself as that is a sound idea. They look good too.
It's on the list for another time.

Hammerite is rubbish. You will be back to it the next year.

Well there's a view I have found it quite good and not had any real issues.

I always used to use it because it is handy and you can get it in rattle cans, but I have never had great success on relying on it to keep rust at bay. It is a good easy solution if you accept that you may need to redo it each year, but as a long term coating it isn't very good. That might have something to do with me living next to the coast. :yesnod:
