Hi,
I have a MGTF 1.6 2005 and have a few problems that may be related to each other.

Horn not working
Drivers window will not go down
Driver and passenger door will not unlock with fob (alarm is turned off ok)

The doors lock and alarm turned on ok with fob.

If it appears to be an ÈCU problem that is causing these, is it one or several?
If so which one(s) do I need to replace?
I hope someone here can help out as I've got my MOT soon and summer is just around the corner!

:welcome:
The first thing I would do is check all the fuses ?
The horn problem could be the rotary coupler inside the steering wheel ?
Somebody may have some other ideas ??

Different layout on the TF, I will stick the page up when I get home:

The issues you have are all related to the Body Control Unit (AKA Security Control Unit) the unit is housed in the lower portion of the centre console below the switches in a small black box about 6” x 4” and held in with 2 security screws (TORX-Plus 25) access is by removing the lower black triangular covers that hold the lower interior light units in the foot wells.

The outputs from the BCU are controlled by micro relays; these relays have 2 sets of coils and 2 sets of contacts in the same unit. The double relays are manufactured by Pektron and have a high failure rate (the very fine coil feed wires fracture)

All the items you have mentioned are all relay outputs from the BCU, the relay outputs are:

Horns
Rear Fog Lights
Screen Wash Pump
Drivers Window Up
Drivers Window Down
Intermittent Windscreen Wipe
Superlocking Lock
Superlocking Unlock
Central Locking Lock
Central Locking Unlock

I suspect you have 3 relays that have failed.

The BCU (Pektron type round fob) are matched to the key fobs (plips) so you cannot get another BCU without matched pre-programmed fobs, or remove the BCU and send it for repair (include your fobs)

No wanting to be bias or promoting one business over another, If you PM me I can give you a couple of places where you can get it done, also some links with detailed info for self-repair of the unit.

Brian.

What's not been made clear is that the F and early TFs have the same wiring and fuse/relay layout but later TFs, from about mid 2003 build have a different wiring and fuse/relay board with smaller fuses and neither the twain shall meet!

However your problems are probably faulty relays in the BCU (Body Control Unit) which only the TF has...I think.

There is a guy on MG-Rover.org called Technozen. He is an ace at sorting these thing out. :broon: Special rates for .org members too.

Do you think that he might give us some special T-Bar rates if we asked him nicely? :hugs:
