Parking up for the Winter

Hi folks been a busy time of year for me so first chance to catch up with the T-Bar for a week or so.

Planning to park up the little lady for the winter and was wondering if anyone has a guide on how to. What steps need to be taken so that she will come out of hibernation without any hiccups.

Oh and someone is showing off :frosty: snow on the T-Bar !!

When I put our Fs away for the winter, I make sure the tank is full of petrol and add stabiliser. I do an oil and filter change, remove the battery, make sure the parking brake is off and put a cover over the car.

Oooh, the parking brake is a good tip. I must release mine and chock the wheels instead...

Argh is that what it is!.. I've been virus scanning for 3 days trying to get rid of it.

I put two of those packs in the car////you know the type have crystals in and pull any damp out of the air....come with a fragrant smell....i put one in the cockpit and one in the boot....and giving the inside a nice cleanout has its put away...i normally bring the car out of the garage now and again....run her up ..and operate the brakes on the drive a few times...checking you have no rodents about...the father in law had the engine bay sound proofing and some wiring chewed away while his rover 25 was sitting about at winter.....and i had a project landrover on the drive with a hole in the bulkhead....the mice got in and chewed away at the brand new seats that had been fitted......i have had my tf 4 years now....every october it is MOTed and then put in the garage untill may......ive never taken the battery off and have maintained its charge on a regular basis.....everybody to thier own really but when mine gets put away it only ever has about half a tank of fuel....and when it is released for duty in may i top it up with fresh petrol.after a clean and polish its coverd with a car cover....

I have a mate who takes his wheels off and puts it on axle stands as he said it stops the tyers getting flat spots, seems sensible to me.

No its not a good idea to leave them standing in the same spot..every 2 weeks or so I move mine..but need the garage space now and again so taking the wheels off would make it harder for me..so just park it in a different position

I thought it was raised blood preasure causing stars in the eyes...

The F/TF has a plastic tank so there is no need to fill the tank as it wont rust.

I made a dehumidifier from a sliced in half milk carton and some rock salt for de-icing paths, regularly recharged by leaving it on a radiator in the house overnight.

1/4 of a tank of fuel is plenty...because if your leaving it for 6 months before it hits the road again ....then that petrol is goin a bit stale...Yeh! ....so topping it up with fresh closer to the day of release is the thing to do.

Way back when laying up a car we'd disengage the clutch by wedging the pedal down with a bit of wood engaged under the steering wheel. Not sure if this is still valid.
