Aside from adverts containing the ideal family having happy times and all happily getting on...(not how we remember bringing up our kids tbh) one thing that really knobs me off is the major car manufacturers saturation-bombing TV adverts with cushy lifestyle ads for their latest models: The Citroen Chlamydia, The Peugeot Sperm, The Renault Phlegm, The Fiat Child- Molestre etc. All want to sell in the UK, nobody can be arsed to make a RHD UK advert. All Euro adverts. With LHD and Euro actors. I think that the only honourable advertising ones are Dacia. Who actually make UK based adverts. Hope the quality has improved from the ones I drove in Romania in the early 90s...... Recycled Renault 12s. Also drove the Duster.....:hgf:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

No doubt the present generation Dacias are capable like most modern cars, if I was in the market for a Eurobox I'd certainly consider a test drive. The Dacias I experienced in 90s Eastern Europe were truly dire: Dacia was state owned and pretty much the only choice, then only after a waiting list of many years. The only alternatives were imports from the Soviet bloc. The Duster of that era was horrendously bad: I drove a new one: the play in the steering wheel was along the lines of a thirty year old Land Rover, the clutch heavier than a 1950s Foden truck. I also sampled the delights of the Trabant: surprisingly fast on acceleration due to the 2 stroke engine.

The parent day Duster doesn't look half bad, though I haven't had a close look.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

If the car manufacturers filmed the adverts over here they would have to find a road which isn't gridlocked and doesn't have potholes which are going to render the car useless or shake the actor senseless at a important moment reading there lines......winter.....well this is dangerous aswell being has the roads are barely salted....and hey you just filming that new car to be launched...the sun is out and you find a rare well maintained uk road....the actors are smiling...great shots of the car and then a bloody taxi pulls out nearly killing the occupants or a 4 wheel drive which looks like something out of a mad max film is hooked to the backside of the new advert car..imagine..filming the advert where I live after the director shouts cut while they renew the alloys after pothole damage...the actors are off again.....the director through a wireless link tells the pretty actress to smile at passers by and appear to enjoy the drive...just then a group of kids play chickhen with the car forcing her to stop....she then has a break to calm her nerves...then they do the night scene to show the cars latest headlights and she crashes has those kids are back again dazzling oncoming drivers with there high power lazer beams..or shooting at the car with bb guns.so to drive down a coastal road with the sun shining in another country...makes sense dunnit?...

Lada value: today's low grade scrap steel price is 55 quid per tonne.
