Hi all
This brownish stuff was present when I bought the car. Looking at it it isn’t easy to clean off almost like a gel or gloppy stuff. My guess is it has been there a while. Remnant of or sign of a hgf?
Regards
John

Clean it off and if it doesn't reappear it doesn't matter what it is.

After doing some research this evening, I believe it is some of the gasket sealing stuff for the cam carrier?

I think the cam cover uses gloop doesn't it rather than a traditional 'gasket'? Pretty sure mine is the same and Russell had my engine apart so it must be correct!

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I dunno if you can get this stuff over there in Pomgolia, but there is nothing better over here in Oz. This stuff is absolutly bloody brilliant!
