Try a dishwasher tab. Works in the coolant header tanks. Maybe a bit of added bleach too.

Anything corrosive will damage the pump, I would just washing up liquid and warm water.

There is something very nasty living in mine (black bits which look oily when they land on the bodywork) which will need dealing with when I get home (currently en vacance). I think bleach is too vicious for the bodywork and I'm pretty sure the reservoir will need to come out for a proper clean, but it looks tricky. Has anyone achieved it without any major dismantling?

What's that black canvas thing behind the seats for?

Pop it out and clean it. I've had mine out it's pretty easy to remove.

Thanks Bob, must be easier than it looks. It's well buried down there!

It's a while since I did it but as far as I can remeber take the spare wheel out and plastic cover off. I think its just the pipes and a wire to remove and the bottle just lifts up.

Remove it and then get a babies bottle brush from a pound shop to clean the inside.

The bottle pulls out.

A hand full of gravel, a drop of washing up liquid, a bit of water and a lot of vigorous shacking can work well.

Good quality screen wash helps keep it clean.

In the passed I've used several Steradent tablets, maybe 3/6 in a large bottle like on the TF.
