I know what you mean about not finding stuff! I moved a bottle of drink at work today, hunted all around for it and it was right next to my hand the whole time! D'oh!!! Hidden in plain sight!

It's amazing how things get lost..minutes after you've had them in your hands...my van keys are now on a tag connected to the phone.through a app that finds them via Bluetooth. ...and the tag can also find the phone....lost my kia car once coming out of a supermarket...crikey nearly 70% of the cars that day were bloody silver or grey...luckily it has a horn button on the key fob...may be some type of panic button...great there it was horn sounding and flashing lights....

At my great age of 61, or as my ma in law would say... Nearly 70, my mind goes completely blank on occasion. Names of things and people momentarily escape me. I think that your brain gets so crammed with info that it occasionally crashes, as a computer would.

Could maybe do with a brain defrag.

I don't think that I need to retain intricate power station details of plant that was demolished in the 90s. But I do....
Similarly, do I need to know how to gap cam/bucket shim sizes for a Dolomite Sprint head with a micrometre? Or rebuild an SU HS6 carb.... Fit big ends to a Ford Crossflow, Fit and gap CB points...etc etc ...can still do it....Duh. Do I need to? Nah....

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I'd love to have to google such things. But I don't have to. Which is the problem. Dwell angle for a Mark 1 1.3 Escort anyone?
