Hi,
Has anybody fitted the adjustable rose
Jointed roll bar links to the front of a mg tf
As I'm struggling to find OE for these and the D shaped roll bar bushes on a 85th Anniversary.
Gerry :-?

Diesel Destroyer fitted rose jointed ones to his project.

Do TF bushes fit the 85th?

I have fitted some Dunlop ones. Found them to be a superior modification and the ball and socket movement has absolutely no slop or backlash.
I will have to replace one of the boots though as it has split. Will probably put some new ones on when I service the brakes before the next MOT.
I could probably dig out the part numbers if you wish.

I had to add some extra thread on the male half to get the spigots to the same distance apart as the original bushed drop links. There is just enough on the shank to do this. The joints come with fixed shouldered shank studs, so spacers are not needed and the ball and socket provide a very tight fit. I did try the other type that you show in your photo, but I was not impressed. I also filled the boot with grease before plugging it, to keep the knuckle well lubed and protected.
They can also be fitted to the rear ARB too, they will extend enough to fit both ends.
They have only been on for a couple of years, so not been back off again. I will split them to add a new boot before the MOT though.
I do have a spare set if you wish to buy them from me. £30 they are yours.
If you wish to buy some from a supplier, the part numbers are MP-M010S F1 DUN for the male half and FP-M10S F39 DUN for the female end. The boots are RDS-06 DUN. but will need a 10mm plug to bung up the third hole. You can see where I plugged mine on the picture above.
They are quite beefy joints too, much more solid then the ones you were looking at.

Novice question - what is the advantage of rose jointed ones?

the disadvantage is tracking at £95 a trow if you are out on the measurements still a good mod tho, I am happy with the original ones. and they are cheaper to buy and replace.

Easy to set correctly, use the old droplink as a hole template to get the distance between spigots right, and I am hoping with no rubber bushes to fail, should last the life of the car. Mine have been on for a couple of years, so when I take the one off to put a new boot on, will see how it has faired up on the joints. If they are still nice and tight, I will be confident that they will last a lifetime. the boots are only pence to replace if they get nicked by something.

Once done - never do again..hopefully. As I said I will check out the ones I put on a couple of years ago and test for wear, if any. If they are still in the same condition as when fitted, 15000 miles ago, they will outlast the car. Not sure if adjustable is a plus too, but it does mean they will fit any F or TF back or front and any angle can be set, like the offset rear ones on the TF. Also probably cheaper than fitting polybuses to the rear ones...don't think you can fit poly's to the front.

No perishable rubber, ones fitted to the rear would be a lot stronger than the originals.
Not sure if they would be cheaper as my stock were given to me by a friend in the trade, in return for some electrical work.
