MOT
Well, car passed its MOT today, just awaiting its return from its service.
Checked out the insurance as well from SAGA, £121.00 fully comp, 2 drivers, NCD Protected. Pretty good I thought!

Hi David . That is a good price . Do they restrict the mileage for that price . As with mine with Peter Best I am restricted to 5k per annum .

Hi,
The mileage is an estimated mileage of 3K per year. Note that it is estimated and not limited to.
Accidental damage of £150.00, with a £50.00 excess.
Cheers

No agreed valuation, don’t forget that this is getting to be pretty old, first registered in 2001. I would think that any slight bump would result in this car being written off by the insurance company.
Insured for social, domestic and pleasure, and not commuting to a place of work. (Also, retired, I am an old fart)
Luckily so far, zero points on both of our licenses)
Also, the car is permanently garaged, It all adds up.
Cheers

Been with Saga 6 years.
Gorsq, even with fully comp, you will still need to pay a premium for a claim. Check your policy.
Gents, shop around, do not accept your renewal premium, phone them up and haggle.

Isnt that the same as the excess?
Do you only pay this in the event of a "own fault" accident?
In the event of any claim, I pay an excess when claim is made, but if not my fault I can claim back from third party (uninsured losses).
I guess this is not what you mean...
My insurance has no other charges in the event of a claim (blame or no blame) as far as I know (never made a claim )

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the comments that this has generated.
It shows that there are opportunities to reduce your premiums ( especially if you are over 55 with Saga) don’t forget guys I am just short of 64 years old!
I go on comparison sites every year so that I know that I am not being ripped off. My Saga quote was more than last year, so I phoned them up, and complained- very nicely, explained that there were cheaper quotes elsewhere, I didn’t want to move companies, and also another year claim free. I also added the old phrase,
“At least Dick Turpin wore a mask”
My premium is similar now to what it was last year.
So Chaps, take the time and effort to shop around, the money that you save will go to the up keep of your prized machine.
Take care and have some lovely motoring trips.
David
