Just cut out the nasty yellow plug and sockets thet lead to the pre-tensioners and re-connected via good old trust choccy block connectors!
I numbered the wires up so the polarity can be maintained if I ever disconnect them again.

Posted 6 years 4 months ago #186990Sorry Bob but soldering the terminals together is not a good solution as it makes it difficult to remove the seats from the car or the airbags from the seats, ever. There is also a risk of setting the airbag off if using an electric soldering iron.
I like Antonys solution.
Personally I just bent the terminals in the plugs slightly so they made better contact.
In the original installation the lead from the car is cable tied to the seat so that the actual connector moves in unison with the seat.

The connectors will do fine for now. If you see my parallel post on .org you will see my preference for spring contact terminals.
I do have some somewhere, hidden away while I am re-building my shed.
They will be substituted when I can locate them and have time.
Until then the choccys will be much better than the original connectors.
I did look at them to see if the contacts were serviceable, by popping them out if the housing and bending them out a bit. Sadly only the male pins were do-able and the female bits were not worth bothering with.
Shame as I do like original parts where available, but these connectors are just too lightweight to be relied upon over the coming years.

Posted 6 years 4 months ago #187191I am pleased to read that chocolate blocks are only a temporary measure.
