Expansion tank
Hi all
I noticed a couple of weeks back after a 50 mile run on a very warm day, that the coolant in the expansion tank had risen to just an inch below the cap. I bought a new cap just in case. Today the water is up to the cap and bubbles are coming from the small pipe on the right (bleed line I think) the temp gauge as rises to its normal position of just under the half way.
I don,t think the radiator fan kicked in at any time.
The water level when cool is the same as normal
Does this mean the system needs bleeding?
Cheers

I think that I bled mine to death. I'd park nose down on a hill and let it run for a while before bleeding the radiator and centre bleed points. There always seemed to be air getting in somewhere. There are more hoses than a Florida residential area in that setup!

Certainly sounds like you have an airlock, but if you have not done anything to your cooling system recently, sounds like there may be an issue elsewhere. I would try yet another cap and fully bleed out the coolant system. Then see if you can get it pressure tested.
After that just keep a close eye on the coolant level, carry spare coolant with you and keep a look out for leaks.
Oh and test out your radiator fan(s).

If your radiator fan doesn't seem to be coming on I would check the fuse, its in the fuse box under the bonnet.
