Just to report back that the pump worked an absolute treat! I had to cobble together a connector between the supplied hose and the hose that I already had with a low loss adaptor on it (from a grease gun type pump) - thanks to my neighbour for those bits. He's a hydraulic engineer and took the various parts with him to his workshop and came back with the solution, so I'm afraid I can't advise on the various thread sizes required.
I followed Steve's excellent How To in the thread above and pumped each side to 400psi, at which point the distance from wheel arch to wheel centre was 365mm (starting position was around 330-335mm). It was literally only 4 or 5 pumps each side that were required so very easy. It took longer to flush the pump through with clean water afterwards than top actually do the job - well almost!
Haven't driven the car yet but will do tomorrow. I fully expect to be able to clear the dreaded speed bumps without grounding now :woohoo:
