Using window washer last week the ABS light Power steering light came on and wipers did the slow thing.
The bottle must have been full of crud as it was all over the bonnet and windscreen. No problem all week, then today the same thing happened, except the abs and steering light stayed, and I lost power steering, turn wipers on to clear screen and my TF cut out. At this point the only lights very dimly lit on dash were engine management, battery and steering. I turned off the ignition and after a couple of starting then dying straight away, all went back to norm car started and seemed fine. I did what I had to do which included a couple of stops and starts.
Went to supermarket, and on reversing out of the space the car cutout after about 20secs. Again the very dim combo as before and starting then cutting straight out. Has anyone experience this? Got a feeling something has killed the pektron unit.

Check battery and earth terminals.

Remove battery terminals, clean and re-fit. Had something similar a while back. Terminals looked fine, but were not making good contact.

Just read your posts on "the other side" and what you describe was EXACTLY the problem I had.

I thought problem with cable to startermotor, but was very embarased when AA man cleaned battery terminals, and started the car.

No dimming of headlights should have been the givaway in my case!

Thanks for the responses guys, I’ll check the starter in morn, it had crossed my mind as was changed a couple of weeks go. It’s the screen wash thing that’s concerning me, and the lack of ignition lights and cutting out. Hope it hasn’t spiked the Pektron unit. Alternator was charging fine, but you never know.

I checked the battery and earths while waiting for recovery truck. Even checked all fuses. The guy did the same checks as me.

I swapped the stereo this afternoon, so even removed that just in case.

Spent a small fortune on car over last few months and really getting it in the ear from Wife lol.. especially arriving home on the back of a recovery truck.

OBD showed no codes.

Charged battery overnight, still same issue, car completely dead with exemption of the immobiliser. The recovery guy had it connected to his truck, would start then die then just turns over. Here a pic of the dash with ignition..

It lives, unplugged the upper ecu connector, reconnected it, turned ignition on and as photo, disabled the immobiliser and the dash sprung into life.

Or I thought it did, turned it off to put dash back together and back to same fault

Think a T4 session is in order.

Sunderland, hoping it’s the pektron scu that’s causing issues and not the ecu.. 😣 forked out nearly £900, trying to save this one, swimbo ain’t impressed.

When I bought it the guy said he picked it up as a non starter. But was just the battery in the fob, I’m starting to wonder now. As when I tried to remove the SCU I found the TS5 screws have been chewed up. Was a first time starter until the windscreen washer issues.

Hoping it’s just a relay, I’m going ordered a set off will break out the Dremel tonight and cut the retaining bolts off. Bloody cars 🤣🤣🤣...

Mind when the Dash is dead, it seems to not be powering the ecu as the obd on my phone doesn’t connect to the elm.

Just had an epiphany

Could it be something to do with the ignition barrel?

Sorted, think it’s the ignition switch. Put some pressure on the back of the switch dash illuminated and Tif burst into life. 🤣🤣🤣🎉🎉🎉🎉 Then it started to rain.

Squirt of contact cleaner and all sorted I’ve ordered a used replacement from eBat, £12 just incase

Pleased you've found the problem, I'm in Sussex so wouldn't be much help.

Just round corner, lol.
Lesson learnt in not getting fixated on one thing, so easily done could kick myself. Now to put everything back together lol. Just hope the weather settles 😣

Thanks for all the advice guys.
