Hello everyone - nice to be part of the MGF community.
I acquired a Mk1 MGF as a 'project' for my son and I to work on - it's fairly sound and we've been tinkering to get it to a point where we could take it for an MOT. I was pretty sure it would fail, but just wanted a 'work-to list' of things needed to get the car on the road.....and it did fail.
But only one main 'immediate repair' is needed which I was (pleasantly) surprised about and as I'd seen a hole in the exhaust whilst underneath it a while back it wasn't a great shock.
So, long way of asking if anyone has any recommendations for a replacement exhaust - I did see a stainless steel exhaust at the MG & Triumph spares show at Stoneleigh earlier this year and thought that it would look good on the car (at some point), but now my hand has been forced I'm wondering whether to bite the bullet and shell out for a new S/S system (which will be more than I paid for the car).
Interested in your thoughts.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply.

Exhaust note is very much a personal preference. I have the Double S exhaust box which I like the sound of - it's not overpowering but has a nice note when you open the throttle. It's sold by MGOC or directly from the manufacturers - in Exeter I believe.

Others rate the Daytona ( Mike Satur ) very highly but I have no personal experience of that system.

Then there's the Toyosports, TT, Milltek etc. etc. or you could just replace with a standard set up

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions Robin.

I'll check them out - got the impulsive vs sensible head battle going on at the moment......yeh, go on, splash out.......but you only need to get it through the MOT at this stage........yeh, but it won't look or sound as nice.........but you can spend the money on other bits for it........:-?

Hi,
Yes, there is a lot of choice out there, and I was like you. Will it be stainless, a Toyo or Daytona. But in the end I went for a Klarius exhaust. Well made and an OE replacement. Rimmer bros stopped selling the exhaust for my model MG, hence the change. This exhaust has the same noise characteristics as the original which pleased me, and kept the car as original as possible! I paid around £103.00, you can purchase for a lot less, but, again, it is all about personal choice.
This exhaust,might outlast the car!!
Cheers
Dave, and enjoy the car.

Hi and welcome to the forum

It depends on what you want from the exhaust.
