Hi . Do I take it that the 'Boomerang' spring has become detached ? If so you may need to remove the mirror back using the ' How to' section of the forum to see if the inside anchor point is broken or the spring has just pinged off . Sorry I can't be more helpful. With our cars getting long in the tooth age wise, I try to ease the mirror back to its normal position when folding them in rather than letting it fly back into position.

If it is just disconnected it is possible to reconnect it but if the mount has broken it is replacement mirror time.

Ooh. I didn't know that the mirrors fold in. Do they all do that? Mine is a TF with electric mirrors.

Hi .Well I presumed that they all do . Mine are quite tight so as I said in my previous post, they should be folded carefully both in and out or springs will fly ! :pinch:

IIRC under 1967 design and use regulations mirrors have fold if they collide with pedestrians.
